Banwari Sahu Mahavidyalaya is a leading institution of Jharkhand’s Latehar region that is consistently working in the field of higher education . It is not only the oldest institution but has been the only centre for Graduate education prior to the establishment of new Nilamber Pitamber University in Medininagar. It is recognized by UGC under section 2(f) since 2011 and follows the National Curriculum of UGC in all faculties and disciplines. The college offers Degree (Hons. & Pass) Courses in almost all subjects of Arts and Commerce and General Courses in all Subjects .
The college is located in the Latehar Jharkhand and is spread in vast area of 7.7 acres (aaprox) equipped with beautiful greenery, good infrastructure and facilities. There are additional facilities of study centre of IGNOU and Jharkhand State Open University within the campus. The nearest railway station is Latehar.
Banwari Sahu Mahavidyalaya got established in 15 April 1987 under the aegis Under Society Samajik Chetna And Saikshnik Vikas Sansthan, Act 21 ,1860. The Institute is Affiliated to Nilamber-Pitamber University, Medininagar, Palamau (Jharkhand). Banwari Sahu Mahavidyalaya is carrying out original research of significance and technology development at the cutting edge. It imparts educational curriculum & training to students to make them competent, motivated engineers and scientist. The institute not only celebrates freedom of thought, cultivates vision and encourages growth, but also inculcates human values and concern for the environment and the society.

Banwari Sahu Mahavidyalaya, Latehar, Dist- Latehar (Jharkhand), is One of the Premier Co-educational institution situated in the Tribal dominated Area at established in 1984 and Permanent Affiliated to Nilamber - Pitamber University, Medini Nagar. It is Govt. aided institution registered under UGC recognition Section 2(F). The college is dedicated to spread Quality based Education to meet the students with all their challenges and opportunities. The institution has a hunger to enrich and strength the students with Global Knowledge to achieve maximum advantages because Knowledge is not a power but an engine of growth and prosperity. Dr. S. Radhakrishnan defres education “as the instrument for Social, economic and cultural change. Only the right kind of education can solve many problems of the society and the country.”
